Guangdong Health Commission donated medical equipment to China-Dominica Friendship Hospital

On January 21, 2022, the donation ceremony of medical equipment to DCFH by Guangdong Provincial Health Commission was held at DCFH. Wyke, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health of Dominica, Blanc, Medical Director of DCFH, James,CEO of DCFH, Pan Zhaohui, Head of economic and commercial affairs and First Secretary of Chinese Embassy ,  Zhang Hao, Captain of the Fourth Batch of Chinese Medical Team sent by Sun Yat-sen University attended the ceremony.

Pan Zhaohui said that as the name of DCFH indicates, batches of medical team members came to Dominica to devote themselves to the cause of Dominica's health care and made the flower of China-Dominica friendship bloom more brilliantly. Under the pandemic, they fought side by side with Dominican colleagues on the front line of the fight against the pandemic and jointly served many Dominican people, and achieved gratifying results. The donated medical equipment has high technological content and practicality, which will further improve the medical conditions of DCFH. Captain Zhang Hao said that the donation  included ophthalmology and cardiovascular devices which was demanded by the DCFH. The Guangdong Provincial Health Commission strove to overcome the impact of the pandemic and delivered the equipment to Dominica as soon as possible.

Director Blank thanked the Chinese government for its continuous medical assistance to Dominica over the years in her speech. She also stressed the Chinese government has practiced the connotation of "A friend in need is a friend indeed" with its actions. On behalf of the Dominican government and Board of Directors of the Dominica Hospitals Authority, CEO Dr. James thanked the Chinese side for its outstanding contribution to enhancing the capacity building of the specialized departments of the hospital, especially the professional support for the development of ophthalmology, which will eventually be written in the history of Dominican ophthalmology. He also pointed out that, benefiting from this batch of supplies, the hospital was ready to increase the numbers of daily outpatients seen in the ophthalmology department.
