Dominica’s Acting Prime Minister attends the Foreign Ministers' Meeting Among China and the Caribbean Countries Having Diplomatic Relations with China

On April 28, 2022, Dominica’s Acting Prime Minister Hon. Reginald Austrie, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations Hon. Kenneth Darroux, Minister for Public Works and The Digital Economy Hon. Cassani Laville, and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office Mrs. Missi Henderson attended the Foreign Ministers' Meeting Among China and the Caribbean Countries Having Diplomatic Relations via video link, which was co-chaired by State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China H.E. Wang Yi and Hon. Reginald Austrie. Chinese Ambassador to Dominica H.E. Lin Xianjiang was also present.

The Acting Prime Minister delivered remarks on behalf of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica and Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, noting that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Caribbean countries 50 years ago, the two sides have continuously strengthened political mutual trust, economic and trade ties and people-to-people exchanges. The partnership of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit between China and Caribbean countries has continued to deepen. Caribbean countries appreciate China for its assistance in the economic and social development of the region, especially in responding to natural disasters and fighting against COVID-19, and will continue to firmly stick to the one-China principle. The 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations will be an opportunity for Caribbean Countries to jointly promote Belt and Road cooperation, the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative with China, so as to inject new vitality into an even closer China-Caribbean community with a shared future.
