Charge d'Affaires Luo Songtao Calls on Dominican Speaker Issac

On February 18, Mr. Luo Songtao, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Dominica called on Honorable Joseph Issac, the new Speaker of the House of Assembly of Dominica. The two sides exchanged views on combating the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, among other things.

Mr. Luo congratulated Hon. Speaker on his assumption of office, saying that Parliamentary exchange is an important component of China-Dominica relations. The Chinese Embassy is willing to promote the friendly exchange between China's National People's Congress (NPC) and Dominican House of Assembly and push for greater development of bilateral relations. Mr. Luo also briefed Hon. Speaker on China's fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, saying that since the outbreak of the disease, China has taken the most comprehensive and rigorous measures to curb its spread and conducted international health cooperation in an open, transparent and responsible manner, earning the recognition of the international community. China has full confidence and capabilities to win this battle against the epidemic. Mr. Luo thanked the Dominican government for supporting China in its efforts to fight the disease, saying this fully demonstrates that China and Dominica are true friends sharing weal and woe.

Hon. Issac thanked Mr. Luo for his congratulations and briefing on the epidemic situation in China, saying that Dominica and China have always enjoyed sound bilateral relations and Dominican President and Prime Minister have spoken up in full support of China in Parliament. He emphasized that Dominica will firmly adhere to the One China principle. He is also committed to promote Parliamentary exchange between Dominica and China and further strengthen bilateral friendship.
