Ambassador Lu Kun and Dominican Foreign Minister Francine Baron Visits the China-Dominica Modern Agriculture Center

On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, Mr. Lu Kun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Commonwealth of Dominica and Hon. Francine Baron, Minister for Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Commonwealth of Dominica visited the China-Dominica Modern Agriculture Center and greeted the Chinese agricultural experts in Portsmouth on February 9th, 2019.

Ambassador Lu and Minister Baron visited the nursery greenhouses and fruit and vegetable bases, listened to the work report of the Agriculture Center, and exchanged views on the agricultural cooperation between China and Dominica.

Minister Baron said that the China-Dominic Modern Agricultural Center is an important symbol of the development of bilateral relations and has played a huge role in the development of  Dominican agriculture. It has not only improved the cultivation techniques of local farmers, but also enhanced the export competitiveness of the native agricultural products. She also express deep appreciation to the support from the Chinese Government and the Chinese Embassy in  Dominica, as well as the hard work by the Chinese agriculture experts.

Ambassador Lu said that China is a big agricultural country with advanced production technology and is willing to share experiences with Dominica. It is also hoped that the agricultural cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop. In addition, Ambassador Lu also praised the work of the ChinaAid Agriculture Team in Dominica, pointing out that after the hurricane Maria, the members of the agricultural team overcame various difficulties and carried out post-disaster recovery work. In the past nine months, they have achieved  remarkable results and made positive contribution to the development of the China-Dominica relations.
